Important notes on OneDrive access when colleagues leaving ETH
If a colleague leaves the ETH, their account and the associated OneDrive will be deleted. This has a direct impact on all data shared by this person.
Microsoft OneDrive is an external online storage solution (cloud) and is used to store and save files and documents.
Here are the most important points you should bear in mind
- Loss of shared documents: once the account has been deleted, you will no longer have access to documents shared by the person leaving via OneDrive. Make sure that all important business documents are handed over in advance and stored in a secure location.
- Back up business data: if you know that certain business files are from the person leaving, speak to them in good time to ensure that this data is backed up and handed over accordingly.
- Private data: Inform your colleagues that they must save their private OneDrive data in a different location before they leave. This data will be irrevocably lost once the account has been deleted.
Through timely planning and communication, we can avoid data loss and ensure a smooth transition. Do not hesitate to contact your IT support or the ITS Service Desk if you have any questions or uncertainties.
