Zoom Cloud recordings: New retention policy

From 3 January 2022, the storage of recordings in the Zoom Cloud will be newly regulated and limited to two years. This also applies retroactively to existing recordings.

The aim of the new regulation is, on the one hand, to manage the available storage space economically and, on the other hand, to be able to provide recordings of virtual meetings for an appropriate period of time. In addition, we offer the possibility of transferring lecture recordings from the Zoom Cloud directly or subsequently to the ETH Zurich video portal, where they are published or archived permanently. Details on this and the implementation of the new storage rules can be found at https://ethz.ch/services/en/it-services/catalogue/multimedia/video-conference/zoom/storage-duration.html.

Users with existing Zoom Cloud recordings will soon be informed about this new policy via email.
