Euler Tender: And the Winner is…

Over the last months, IT Services organized a call for tender to procure the second tranche of the Euler cluster.

Now we have a winner: it is Hewlett-Packard, the same company that delivered the hardware for the first tranche of Euler. The solution chosen in the tender offers the best price-performance ratio and outmatches the first tranche with respect to total performance and energy efficiency. The ETH Executive Board has mandated IT Services to procure the second tranche based on the result of the tender. The largest part of the funding for this tranche is provided by ETH professors who use it to obtain a ″share″ of Euler to fulfill their needs for HPC compute power. The precise number of compute nodes to be ordered will be fixed over the coming weeks.

Obtain HPC compute power?

ETH members who want to obtain HPC compute power in the form of an Euler share still this year should contact Olivier Byrde (olivier.byrde@id.ethz.ch) now.
