Live Streaming

Live streaming – from the GEP pavilion to the entire world.

Connect your event to audiences on the web using live streaming. The D-UWIS 50th discussion forum which took place in December 2012 is a case in point. Recording at the GEP pavilion was complemented by live streaming (based on a product from www.livestream.com) and distributed worldwide via http://www.multimedia.ethz.ch/live. Thanks to D-UWIS’s excellent communication job, 95 visitors from all over Europe, India and Japan followed the event live in addition to about 60 visitors who attended in Zurich. This resulted in a total of 300 viewing hours – more than three hours per external visitor.

Almost like being there

Live streaming allowed external visitors to hear presentations and see the speakers just like participants at the GEP Pavilion. Thanks to a return channel installed by the organisers, it was also possible to ask questions in a timely manner. Questions from outside were included in the post lecture question period. Thanks to modern technology, the entire scientific community was able to participate in this event while saving on travel costs and CO2 emission. Just too bad they couldn’t enjoy the coffee and refreshments!

ITS MMS additional services

The Multimedia Sevices offer live streaming as an additional service to event recording and local transmission. Thanks to an excellent network infrastructure, live streaming can be organized from practically any room. The only additional equipment necessary is a real-time encoder (Teradek Cube) and thorough preparation.
