Project GOA modifications starting 07.04.2011

As an initial step in implementing the new data storage and management system covering guests, organisations and internal address data (GOA), conversion of all affected OIS systems will take place between Friday, 01.07.2011 12:00 o’clock and Monday, 04.07.2011 06:00 o’clock.

Below a detailed timetable of the conversion process:

The following applications will be unavailable from Friday, 01.07.2011 12:00 o’clock until Monday, 07.04.2011 06:00 o’clock:

  • ETH-card validation terminals
  • all Academic applications (Course Catalogue, MyStudies, eDoz, room request, Bewerbung Bachelorstudium. Rectorate applications LISETHpro, Sempro+, LKW)
  • all PDB applications (People Finder on the ETH-Homepage, People Search, maps, Addresses and Personal Data (http://www.addresses.ethz.ch/) KarteMA, MaInfo and HR applications (HR employees are informed regarding unavailability of PDB-SAP interface)
  • Events Calendar
  • Site Plans App (http://www.ethz.ch/about/location/index_EN)
  • all OrgDB-applications (OrgDB-Client, www.org.ethz.ch)
  • Research Database
  • Estate Management applications: MyRooms and Room Information (class rooms) and GMIS (Planon)
  • SAP Web Shops (note: ETHis incl. AAA and SAP ERP (R/3) remain available)

Separate administration for office addresses and telephone numbers

 Currently «ETH-internal addresses and telephone numbers» (office addresses on ETH premises with corresponding telephone number) is managed by ITS-Communications as part of ETH internal telephony administration. To facilitate the introduction of new voice communication technologies (VoIP – Voice over IP) and the optimization of employment (entry) processes, administration of office addresses shall be newly designed and separated from phone numbers. From here on, ITS-Communication, together with decentralized telephony supporters, will be responsible for telephone number allocation and administration only, without office address administration (disconnection office address <-> phone number). This new concept ensures comprehensive coverage of all ETH employee internal addresses, as mandated by the federal government.

New processes – main features

  1. As part of the employment process, the initial office address entry will be made by HR.
    Additional entries/ mutations shall be made / initiated by the employee.
  2. New concept for the assignment process of internal telephone number to office address
  3. Guest administration will be newly managed by OIS
  4. Service Offices: new administrative entity that can have a set of contact information separately

Internal addresses will be used by all major applications (Academic, SAP, Estate Management), as well as the ITS Identity Management und Directory Services (nethz, LDAP, Active Directory, etc.).
