Euler Cluster extended by fat nodes
The computer cluster Euler has been extended by 32 fat nodes over the past weeks to support memory intensive applications of Euler shareholders.
Each fat node is equipped with 256 GB RAM (as compared to the standard of 64 GB).
At the same time, 32 existing nodes have been extended to 256 GB RAM and 32 other nodes to 128 GB RAM to have enough RAM for cloud computing applications.
The extensions worked out smoothly and both the new and the upgraded nodes are now in production. The upgrade increased the overall available RAM of Euler by 61% to 42 TB and the thereoretical computing power by 8% to 267 TFlops.
