Scientific software development – what does this actually mean?
The group „Scientific Software and Data Management» (SSDM) of the division SIS is headquartered in Basel, at the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE). The group works for ETH customers in Zurich and Basel, as well as for projects of the Swiss national research programs and other academic customers. The group’s task is to support the research process in quantitative scientific fields through design, maintenance, customization and integration of software, database and data management solutions which fit current needs and requirements.
For a detailed account about what all this means and about the difference between scientific and traditional software development (e.g. business applications) please visit the German blog.
