Lunchtime Meeting at Skye

The Skye Project presented at the ETH staff party „togETHer 12» was so fascinating it left us hungry for more. The obvious solution was to arrange a lunchtime meeting as follow-up. The flood of registrations which an earlier visit to the quadrocopters had triggered prepared us for the overwhelming reaction to the Skye visit.

Skye – The Omnidirectional Spherical Blimp

Project Skye presents a novel concept combining the elegant and energy efficient flight of a blimp with the precise handling characteristics of a quadrocopter. Thanks to its symmetrical mechanical design, Skye can orient itself in any direction. With its integrated camera system, Skye resembles a hovering eye in the sky which enables applications in countless situations thanks to its agility, long flight duration and high safety standards.

Science Hands-on

To get an impression of Skye, we recommend (mostly German) the Einstein program, the Skye website, ETH Life Magazine or a visit to the next Scientifica 2013 event in Zurich, 30.8.-1.9 .2013, on the topic of „risk“ / „What chances do we take when“.

Kontakt über Mittag /Lunchtime Meetings

„Kontakt über Mittag“ was first established three years ago, in 2010. The IT Services (ITS) has more than 200 employees who are spread out in about 15 different buildings. „Kontakt über Mittag“ provides an opportunity for cross-departmental activities in small groups. During these lunchtime meetings we get to meet interesting personalities, learn about exciting research at ETH and visit historical or simply fascinating parts of ETH Zurich. All ITS employees are welcome to join. Participation is limited and on a first come first serve basis.
