ITIL Foundation Courses – Review
The first ITIL Foundation course with certification exam was organized by ITA (IT Training Administration) in August 2008. Within three months two more courses followed. Each course was taught by a different instructor from a different training company. At the end of all three courses, course evaluations were analyzed in collaboration with LET. Based on this analysis, Regine Collée from Digicomp was chosen as trainer for future courses.
From theory to practice
In 2010 ITA discovered Glenfis which offered a simulation day for process simulation training (Apollo 13 mission). This has the purpose that processes can be experienced – and the consequences of a change are immediately clear. Nine previously certified ITS employees attended this one-day simulation workshop. It was an exciting experience for all. Since at the time Regine Collée was fully booked, we decided in collaboration with Wolfgang Korosec, to use Glenfis instructors for future ITIL courses and that a small part of each course would be reserved for simulation. Our initial goal was to promote practice-related learning. We are now considering extending the Foundation course from 3 to 3.5 days since with the popular simulation part there’s almost too much material that has to be crammed into the allotted time. The exam always takes place on the 3rd day of the course in the afternoon.
Certification exam
To date, a total of 98 people have participated in an ITA organized ITIL Foundation course. 82 of them signed up for the certification exam and 79 passed the test on their first try – a small success story.
