Rudolf Friederich celebrates 20 years with the ITS
When Rudolf Friederich, currently at ITS SDL Managed Services, began to work at ETH 20 years ago, the ITS was still in its infancy stage and Andreas Dudler had not yet entered the scene.
Rudolf‘s first job was as a VAX/VMS systems manager. Now, many years, restructures, and various Windows versions later, Rudolf is a Windows supporter with extensive experience.
Different Groups and Divisions
Due to several structural reorganizations in the past 20 years, Rudolf Friedrich has worked under as many as 7 different managers to date, including most recently, Hans Hiltbrunner, Reinhard Hess, Jürgen Winkelmann (primarily), Wolfgang Korosec and his current boss SDL Division Head Yasmin Irani.
Leisure and Hobbies
In his spare time Rudolf is a passionate photographer with a keen eye for nature’s wonders. He is however no less fascinated by other unique photo subjects be it human, animal or even technical. Rudolf is especially proud of his photo shoots taken during his annual month-long US trip. Besides photography, Rudolf also has musical interests as his collection of old records (currently waiting to be digitized, adapted and burned as CDs) and his old electrical piano testify. Unfortunately there is never enough time to do all that he would like to.
Future Plans
He doesn’t really have definite plans but there are many IT-related things that would interest him (image and audio processing, web technology). Since for the moment Rudolf Friedrich just does not find enough time for all these activities he is content to take each day as it comes and make the most of it while knowing that he (nor anyone else) cannot hold on to time.
