Pilot project: auditorium transmission

As the fall semester draws to a close our pilot project offering auditorium transmission also comes to an end.

ITS-Multimedia Services had been commissioned by D-MAVT and the Rectorate to equip auditoriums ML D28 and E12 for bidirectional lecture transmission. The reason behind this was the increasing number of students, especially in fundamental first semester courses, who do not always fit into one auditorium. The goal was to achieve acceptable transmission quality using minimum personnel. MMS seems to have succeeded on both accounts: by means of new installations personnel expenses have been halved compared to before. Transmission quality did not suffer as three-quarters of the students confirmed in a written survey in which they attest that transmission quality is good to very good.

On the basis of this pilot test the Rectorate is now considering outfitting additional auditoriums with similar technology.
