Benno Zogg, is a political analyst for the Swiss and Euro-Atlantic Security Team at ETH Zurich’s Center for Security Studies (CSS). Zogg joined the Monocle podcast to deconstruct 50 years of the World Economic Forum. He focuses on Swiss and European security and the intersection of security and development for the CSS Think Tank. The Think Tank seeks to improve Swiss and international security policy and the promotion of peace by providing policy advice founded in academic research. Zogg indicates that the Think Tank serves as a bridge between academia and society making security policy tangible for public consumption.
Zogg addresses the question of whether (or not) a week in Davos produces any “tangible” results in terms of sustainability or climate change. He says that from a security perspective, “the mere fact that these people got together and talked… because dialogue and tiny bits of trust building matter and just having everyone in the same tiny town in the mountains matters…”
